They can charge them up and plug them in to extend the amount of time they’re able to game and browse using their Oculus Quest 2.
And because battery packs are portable, they still have the freedom of movement they’d enjoy unplugged.
What Battery Packs Are Compatible With the Occulus Quest 2?
The Moolechi battery pack is specially designed for use with Oculus Quest 2 and it appears to be a very popular choice.
Although we haven’t tried this accessory, it looks to be a good choice because it clips onto your headset.
That means you don’t have your device very obviously, and intrusively, wired to another one you have to carry around.
The equally unobtrusive Hanpusen battery pack is also receiving good reviews, and it is a little cheaper. It also appears to have the same capacity as the Moolechi battery pack option.
These are just two examples of battery packs that are purpose-designed for use with Oculus Quest 2. Others will work. The point is that extending your VR Headset’s battery life with a battery pack is not impossible.
Will The Oculus Quest 2 Have Longer Battery Life in Later Iterations?
The Oculus Quest 3 is no longer new news. Unfortunately, it doesn’t offer better battery life. Instead, you can choose an option that reduces graphics quality in exchange for making your battery’s charge last a bit longer.
It’s not the kind of tradeoff that most people would go for. After all, you want a remarkably realistic experience. Bad graphics quality isn’t going to give you that.
However, with battery technology continuing to advance, we can look forward to better power management and capacity. But it will take time for technology to catch up.
Maybe that means less time wondering how long it takes for the Oculus Quest 2 to charge and more time enjoying immersive experiences. We will have to wait and see.
How to Extend Your Oculus Quest 2’s Battery Life
Yes! You can make your battery last longer. The most obvious way to do this is to shut it down when you aren’t using it.
Standby mode uses less battery power, but it still drains your battery.
If you’re playing PC VR, get a Link Cable. It’s a small bonus on battery life but could be significant enough to make a difference.
Air Link isn’t as good battery life-wise.
And, of course, there’s that expensive Elite Strap with battery. You’ll probably need it if you want to use an external battery pack, and it currently costs about a third of the price of your Oculus Quest 2.
Maybe it’s better to just have a little patience and let it charge for an hour or two? It’s your call!
